What's Happening?
ABS has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with key Korean shipbuilding and research organizations to advance workforce development and technical certification in the Korea-U.S. shipbuilding and maritime
sectors. The agreement, signed with the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO), the Korea Offshore & Shipbuilding Association (KOSHIPA), and the Korea-U.S. Shipbuilding Partnership Center (KUSPC), aims to build workforce capability for the U.S. naval maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) market. The initiative focuses on developing a trained and certified workforce to meet the standards of modern naval and commercial shipbuilding. ABS will provide guidance in classification, certification, and regulatory standards, while KRISO, KOSHIPA, and KUSPC will contribute expertise in ship engineering, workforce development, and bilateral coordination.
