recently, he served as executive vice president of technology at Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. Prior to that, he held leadership positions at both Cleveland-Cliffs and ArcelorMittal USA LLC. Carter began his career in 1983 at Inland Steel, where he worked in technical and supervisory ironmaking roles, eventually progressing to leadership positions in operations, engineering, strategy, product development, and quality. He is also a past president of the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST).
