What's Happening?
Zac and Meghan Crow have opened a new self-pour franchise, Tapster, in Denver's LoHi neighborhood. The establishment, located at 3200 Tejon St., features 54 taps offering a variety of beverages, including local brews, seltzers, ciders, cocktails, and nonalcoholic
drinks. Customers use a Tapster-branded card to pour drinks, which are priced by the ounce. The Crows, both Colorado natives and Colorado State University alumni, have incorporated local elements into the franchise, such as aspen wood from Cañon City and murals by a local artist. The couple signed a 10-year lease for the 2,800-square-foot space, investing $500,000 in construction and permitting.
Why It's Important?
The opening of Tapster in Denver reflects a growing trend in the hospitality industry towards self-service models, which offer customers more control over their experience while reducing labor costs for business owners. This model is particularly appealing in a post-pandemic world, where contactless and self-service options are increasingly popular. By focusing on local products and customization, Tapster aims to create a unique and community-oriented atmosphere, potentially attracting a loyal customer base. The success of this venture could influence other businesses to adopt similar models, impacting the broader food and beverage industry.
