What's Happening?
SpaceX launched its Starship Flight 13 from the Starbase facility in Texas on July 24, 2026. This mission marked the second test flight of SpaceX's third-generation rocket and the first operational deployment of Starlink V3 satellites. The launch, which
had been delayed due to engine issues and weather conditions, saw the 397-foot-tall rocket lift off successfully. The upper stage of the Starship deployed 20 next-generation Starlink V3 satellites, some equipped with cameras to inspect the vehicle's heat shield tiles. The mission demonstrated improved booster performance, although landing burn engine issues persisted. The upper stage performed a successful splashdown in the Indian Ocean, remaining intact for the first time.
