What's Happening?
Japanese animation studio Khara, known for its work on the Rebuild of Evangelion films, is collaborating on the animated expansion of the Baahubali universe, titled 'Baahubali: The Eternal War.' This collaboration was announced at the Annecy International
Animation Film Festival in France. The project, directed by Ishan Shukla, continues the story of Mahishmati, focusing on Prince Baahubali's journey in the afterlife. The film is notable for its large budget of ₹120 crore, making it one of the most expensive animated films produced in India. The production involves international collaboration with studios in India, the UK, Scotland, France, and Japan.
Why It's Important?
The collaboration between Studio Khara and the Baahubali franchise represents a significant cultural exchange between Japan and India, two countries with rich traditions in animation and storytelling. This partnership could pave the way for more international collaborations in the animation industry, potentially leading to innovative storytelling and new market opportunities. The project's substantial budget also highlights the growing investment in high-quality animated content in India, which could boost the country's animation industry and attract global attention. Additionally, the film's success could influence future projects, encouraging more cross-cultural partnerships in the entertainment sector.
