GE Aerospace is utilizing a Boeing 747-400, known as the 'Flying Laboratory,' to test the world's largest jet engine, the GE9X, which is being developed for Boeing's 777X aircraft. This 32-year-old aircraft, acquired from Japan Airlines in 2010, serves
as a modern Flying Test Bed, replacing an older model used since 1992. The 747 is equipped with thousands of feet of cables and test sensors, allowing it to collect extensive data necessary for engine certification.
