What's Happening?
BAE Systems is progressing with the development of its Future Combat Air Demonstrator (FCAD), aiming for power-on in the latter half of 2027. The FCAD is a twin-engine, stealthy, supersonic aircraft designed to prepare UK industry for the Global Combat Air Program
(GCAP). The aircraft's components, including the fuselage and wings, are being manufactured and assembled in England. The FCAD will test technologies for future combat aircraft, including supersonic weapon release capabilities. The project is part of the UK's Future Combat Air System Technology Initiative, supported by Team Tempest partners, including BAE Systems, Leonardo, MBDA, and Rolls-Royce.
