What's Happening?
FRAME OOH, formerly known as Harkey Media, has officially launched as a national independent out-of-home (OOH) advertising platform. This rebrand signifies a new strategic direction for the company, which is actively expanding its national footprint through
significant acquisitions. The company has bolstered its presence in New York with the acquisition of 9 Times Square, featuring a new 27’ x 66’ full-motion screen that went live this month. Additionally, FRAME OOH has entered the Chicago market by purchasing digital outdoor advertising inventory, including four 20’x60’ digital bulletins on the Tri-State I-294 freeway and two static wallscapes. The Phoenix-founded company now operates in eleven major U.S. markets, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Boston, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Nashville, Salt Lake City, and Kansas City. A new office has also been opened in New York City to strengthen in-market capabilities.
Why It's Important?
The launch of FRAME OOH as a national independent platform is important for the U.S. advertising industry, particularly in the out-of-home sector. This expansion indicates a growing trend towards consolidation and increased investment in physical advertising assets, even in an increasingly digital world. By acquiring premium digital and static billboard inventory in key markets, FRAME OOH aims to offer brands a powerful way to engage with consumers in the real world. This move could intensify competition among OOH advertising providers, potentially leading to more innovative advertising solutions and better value for advertisers. The emphasis on combining premium inventory with local market expertise and national reach suggests a strategy to cater to both large national campaigns and localized marketing efforts, impacting how businesses allocate their advertising budgets and reach their target audiences across diverse U.S. regions.
What's Next?
FRAME OOH plans to continue its aggressive strategy of acquiring, developing, and investing in premium OOH assets nationwide. This ongoing expansion suggests that the company will likely seek further acquisitions in existing and new U.S. markets to solidify its national presence. The company's focus on combining premium inventory with local market expertise and national reach indicates a continued effort to provide comprehensive advertising solutions. Future developments may include the integration of new technologies into their OOH displays, further enhancing their offerings to advertisers. The company's growth could also lead to increased employment opportunities in the advertising and media sectors across its operational markets. Stakeholders, including other OOH advertising companies and advertisers, will be closely watching FRAME OOH's next moves as it aims to become a dominant player in the independent OOH platform space.
Beyond the Headlines
The re-emergence and expansion of independent OOH platforms like FRAME OOH highlight a broader shift in the advertising landscape, where physical media is being re-evaluated for its unique advantages in an increasingly digital and fragmented media environment. In an age dominated by digital ads, OOH advertising offers a tangible, unavoidable presence that can cut through digital clutter. This trend suggests a recognition of the 'IRL advantage' – the power of real-world experiences and physical presence in building brand trust and engagement. The strategic investments in high-visibility locations like Times Square and major freeways underscore the enduring value of prime physical real estate for brand messaging. This development could also signal a move towards more integrated marketing campaigns that blend digital and physical touchpoints, leveraging the strengths of each to create a more holistic and impactful consumer journey. The growth of such platforms may also influence urban planning and public space aesthetics, as more digital displays become part of the urban fabric.
