What's Happening?
A group of students from Naperville Central High School has developed a self-watering device called 'Plant Pal,' which has advanced to a national pitch contest. The team, consisting of Katelyn Burke, Jack Swigert, Ben Reed, and Mahika Solanki, created
the device as part of their Business INCubatoredu class. The 'Plant Pal' is designed to help keep plants hydrated by using a wicking system, with a small figurine named Sprout that assists in water transfer. The students' innovation won first place at the 2026 INCubatoredu Pitch Night for Naperville District 203, earning them $3,000 in seed funding. Their success has led them to the national competition in Chicago, where they will present their product alongside other student businesses.
