Comcast has agreed to a $117.5 million settlement following a data breach that exposed the personal information of nearly 36 million Xfinity customers. The breach, which occurred between October 16 and October 19, 2023, compromised usernames, contact
information, dates of birth, passwords, partial Social Security numbers, and security questions. Although Comcast denies any wrongdoing, the settlement includes provisions for affected customers to receive free identity theft protection services for three years. Eligible customers can file claims for reimbursement of up to $10,000 for documented financial losses or opt for a $50 cash payment.
