What's Happening?
Square Enix is finalizing the development of 'Final Fantasy 7 Revelation,' set for release in early 2027. The game will reintroduce the classic job system from earlier series entries, albeit in a more limited form. Director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed that
the new FITS system will offer four jobs per character, with only Cloud's warrior and Tifa's black mage roles disclosed so far. This is a significant reduction from previous games, which featured over 20 jobs. The decision to limit the number of jobs is attributed to the increased technical demands of modern gaming, including enhanced graphics and player expectations.
Why It's Important?
The reintroduction of the job system in 'Final Fantasy 7 Revelation' is significant as it brings back a beloved feature from earlier games, potentially appealing to long-time fans. However, the reduced number of jobs reflects the challenges developers face in balancing nostalgia with modern gaming requirements. This move could influence future game development strategies, as companies may need to prioritize certain features over others due to technical constraints. The game's success or failure could impact Square Enix's approach to future projects and the broader RPG genre.
