Air Canada and Airbus have announced a joint investment of C$13.7 million ($9.8 million) to support the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Canada. This initiative, revealed at the Farnborough Airshow, aims to accelerate a Canadian SAF project
towards a final investment decision. The investment is expected to back HEFA SAF production, leveraging Canada's extensive feedstock resources. An Airbus-commissioned study suggests that local production could meet 40% of Canadian SAF demand, potentially adding C$32 billion to the GDP and creating 140,000 jobs. Air Canada, which operates over 100 Airbus aircraft, views this initiative as a step towards building a reliable SAF supply.
