Epic Games has embedded a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server within the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), enabling AI agents like Claude Code, Cursor, and the MCP Inspector to interact with the editor via a local HTTP connection. This integration allows
AI agents to perform various tasks, including creating and modifying Verse Scene Graph entities, reading and writing Verse files, placing and configuring Creative devices, and managing play sessions. Users can now issue natural language commands to AI agents, which then discover available toolsets, call the necessary tools, and report back. To utilize this functionality, users must enable Python Editor Scripting and UEFN MCP Toolsets in their project settings and configure MCP auto-start. A client configuration file, typically in JSON format, needs to be created in the project's root folder to specify the MCP server details for the AI agent.
