What's Happening?
The University of North Dakota hosted the Kidpreneur Program, providing 12 young entrepreneurs in Grand Forks with hands-on experience in branding, pricing, sales, and entrepreneurship. The program, held from July 27-30, concluded with a mock vendor fair,
preparing participants for the Downtown Grand Forks Street Fair. Students developed products, built brands, and learned essential business skills. The program, expanded to four half-days, was hosted by the North Dakota Small Business Development Centers and the UND Center for Innovation.
Why It's Important?
The Kidpreneur Program plays a crucial role in fostering entrepreneurial skills among young people, equipping them with practical knowledge and confidence to pursue business ventures. By engaging students in real-world business scenarios, the program encourages innovation and economic development at a grassroots level. It also highlights the importance of early exposure to entrepreneurship, potentially inspiring future business leaders and contributing to the local economy.
What's Next?
Participants will apply their skills at the Downtown Grand Forks Street Fair on August 21-22, managing inventory and engaging with customers. The program's success may lead to further expansions and inspire similar initiatives in other communities, promoting entrepreneurship education as a vital component of youth development.
