Christopher Nolan's film, The Odyssey, shot entirely on IMAX 70mm film, is creating a buzz as only 41 theaters worldwide, including 25 in the United States, are equipped to project it in its native 1.43:1 aspect ratio. This format offers a significantly
sharper and larger image compared to digital versions. However, the scarcity of theaters capable of showing the film in this format has led to sold-out screenings and a high demand among cinephiles. The IMAX 70mm format uses a 65mm negative, creating an image 15 perforations wide, which is much larger than the standard 5 perforations. Despite the popularity, the availability of projectors and spare parts is limited, as no new IMAX film projectors have been built in about 50 years.
