What's Happening?
Middle Island Resources has appointed Stefan Mojićević as the country manager for Serbia, effective August 1, 2026. Mojićević, who previously worked with Rio Tinto as a principal permitting advisor for the Jadar Lithium Project, brings over a decade of
experience in Serbian real estate, permitting, and business law. His role will involve overseeing regulatory and stakeholder activities, government relations, and ensuring compliance across Middle Island's three Serbian projects. This appointment is part of Middle Island's strategy to strengthen its local team following its acquisition of Serbian assets through Konstantin Resources in 2025.
Why It's Important?
The appointment of Mojićević is significant for Middle Island Resources as it aims to advance its exploration projects in Serbia. His expertise in permitting and regulatory compliance is crucial for navigating the complex legal landscape in Serbia, which can impact the company's ability to secure necessary licenses and land access. This move is expected to enhance Middle Island's operational efficiency and potentially accelerate project timelines, thereby benefiting stakeholders and investors by potentially increasing the company's resource base and market value.
What's Next?
Mojićević will begin his role in August, focusing on renewing exploration licenses, managing land acquisitions, and negotiating with landowners. He will also liaise with the Ministry of Mining and Energy and other governmental bodies to ensure smooth project operations. The company may announce further strategic appointments or partnerships to bolster its Serbian operations, reflecting its commitment to expanding its presence in the region.
