What's Happening?
McLaren Special Operations has reconstructed the M6GT, a road-going supercar originally envisioned by Bruce McLaren in the 1960s. This new build uses the chassis from an M6A race car and original body molds, modified for a refined appearance. The M6GT will
be showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Bruce McLaren had initially aimed to enter the road-car market with the M6GT, but his untimely death halted the project, leaving only a few prototypes. The reconstructed M6GT is described as 'authentic,' combining restored parts with newly built components to stay true to McLaren's original vision.
Why It's Important?
The reconstruction of the M6GT highlights McLaren's commitment to preserving its heritage and honoring the vision of its founder. This project not only showcases McLaren's engineering prowess but also serves as a tribute to Bruce McLaren's legacy. The M6GT's presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed underscores the importance of historical vehicles in the automotive world, offering enthusiasts a glimpse into the past while celebrating technological advancements. For McLaren, this project reinforces its brand identity as a leader in both racing and road car innovation.
