Health tech startup Forus has successfully raised $150 million in Series C funding, aiming to broaden the reach of its artificial intelligence-powered network into additional medical specialties and care settings. This latest funding round, led by Bain
Capital Ventures, follows a $160 million Series B round just four months prior, elevating Forus' valuation to $3 billion. The company, formerly known as Tandem, has now accumulated over $300 million in total funding. Forus' technology automates prescription workflows, connecting doctors, pharmacies, payers, and biopharma companies to streamline the process of patients receiving their medications. This includes managing prior authorizations, appeals, financial assistance, and pharmacy routing, all provided free of charge to both doctors and patients. Since its launch three years ago, Forus has achieved nationwide coverage, serving thousands of medical practices and health systems across all 50 states and supporting patients in 85% of U.S. residential zip codes. The company initially focused on dermatology, where over a third of providers now use its platform, and has since expanded into gastroenterology, autoimmune specialties, oncology, neurology, primary care, and metabolic health.

The company recently extended its services beyond pharmacy-benefit drugs to include buy-and-bill support, indicating a strategic move to cover a broader spectrum of medication access challenges. Forus is also actively collaborating with major biopharma companies, including nine of the top 15 global firms, to leverage its network and real-world data. This partnership aims to identify obstacles in patient and provider access, monitor treatment outcomes, and assist in the development, launch, and expansion of new treatments. The long-term vision is to make the platform usable for all providers and patients across the country for all types of medications, ensuring that new medical advancements reach those who need them more efficiently.
