The standard deduction for married couples filing jointly in 2026 is $32,200, with an additional $1,650 per spouse for those 65 and older, totaling $3,300. The OBBB adds a $6,000 deduction per qualifying individual, allowing a couple to shield up to $47,500 of ordinary income from taxes. However, this deduction phases out for joint filers with a modified adjusted gross income starting at $150,000 and disappears entirely at $250,000.
