What's Happening?
Phanes Therapeutics has completed enrollment for its Phase 2 clinical trial of spevatamig, a bispecific antibody, in combination with chemotherapy for the treatment of metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Spevatamig targets CLDN18.2 and
CD47, functioning as an innate immunity enhancer. The trial, part of the TWINPEAK study, aims to assess the safety and efficacy of this combination therapy. Initial data were presented at the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting, and topline results are expected by the end of the year.
Why It's Important?
Pancreatic cancer is notoriously difficult to treat, with limited effective therapies available. The development of spevatamig offers a potential new treatment option that could improve outcomes for patients with this aggressive cancer. The trial's completion marks a significant step in Phanes' efforts to bring innovative immuno-oncology therapies to market, potentially offering new hope for patients with limited treatment options.
What's Next?
Phanes plans to continue evaluating spevatamig in various gastrointestinal cancers and explore its potential in combination with other therapies. The company is also conducting additional clinical trials to expand its pipeline of innovative cancer treatments. The results of the Phase 2 trial will inform future development strategies and could lead to further regulatory submissions.
