The Los Alamos boys' and girls' cross country teams swept the team titles at the Sal Gonzales Jamboree, held at Rio Rancho High School. Billy Romero of Taos and Mariah Galbraith of Rio Rancho secured the individual championships in the championship division.
Galbraith, competing on her home course, finished in 18 minutes, 6 seconds, while Romero completed his race in 15 minutes, 36 seconds. This event marked a repeat victory for both individual champions, who also won the season-opening meet at Cleveland on August 29. The meet was recently renamed in honor of Sal Gonzales, Rio Rancho High's athletic director and former cross country and track and field coach, who passed away earlier this year.
