The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) has approved a $25 million direct loan to Westwater Resources, Inc. to support the development of its Kellyton Graphite Plant in Alabama. This financing is part of EXIM's Make More in America Initiative,
which aims to strengthen critical U.S. supply chains and support domestic manufacturing projects. The Kellyton Graphite Plant is expected to produce approximately 12,500 metric tons of coated spherical purified graphite annually, a key material used in lithium-ion battery anodes. The plant's strategic location in Alabama is near a growing concentration of battery and automotive manufacturing operations in the southeastern United States.

The approval of this loan is significant as it represents a federal commitment to bolstering the domestic supply chain for critical minerals, particularly natural graphite, which is essential for battery production.
