What's Happening?
Lisa Barlow, a star of "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City," has recently completed an addition to her Draper, Utah, residence. Barlow expressed her enthusiasm for the renovation in an interview with Glamour magazine, stating her obsession with decorating
and the meticulous thought put into every detail of the new space. While the finished product has not yet been publicly revealed, Barlow shared that the aesthetic maintains her signature black and white theme, featuring black rugs, black and white art, and numerous vases throughout the rooms. This expansion follows her previous statements in December 2020, where she described her home as a "work in progress" and aimed to infuse her personal style into the property, which she purchased "as is." Her design philosophy emphasizes a "super minimalist" and "modern" look, prioritizing a serene environment free of clutter. She also previously mentioned a customized, concealed closet designed to store 300 pairs of shoes.
Why It's Important?
This development highlights the ongoing trend of luxury home customization and expansion among high-profile individuals, particularly those in reality television. For fans of "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City," it offers a glimpse into the personal life and design preferences of a prominent cast member, potentially influencing home decor trends and aspirations among viewers. The emphasis on minimalist and modern design, coupled with practical yet luxurious features like a concealed shoe closet, reflects current high-end residential design preferences. From an economic perspective, such renovations contribute to the local construction and interior design industries in areas like Draper, Utah, signaling continued investment in upscale real estate. The public interest generated by celebrity home projects can also indirectly boost the market for related products and services, from furniture and art to home automation and landscaping.
What's Next?
While the current focus is on the recently completed addition, Lisa Barlow has previously outlined more extensive plans for a completely new home. In November 2024, during "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City After Show," she revealed intentions to build a new residence in Alpine, Utah, approximately 32 miles southeast of Salt Lake City. This future home is envisioned with "very clean lines, 90-degree angles only," and will incorporate specific features such as a pool, concrete floors with radiant heating, a spray tan room with washable walls, and a 2,000-square-foot closet. Barlow's husband, John Barlow, has also requested concrete floors. The decision to build a new home came after her appearance on the real estate show "Sold on SLC," where she searched for a property that met her extensive wish list, ultimately deciding to build to achieve her desired amenities. The timeline for the completion of the Alpine home has not yet been disclosed.
Beyond the Headlines
