Beyond Reach Labs, a startup focused on developing hardware for satellite operators, has announced a successful $10 million seed funding round. The funding was led by Interlagos, with participation from TerraForge Capital, Off-Piste Capital, Y Combinator,
and Augur VC. Founded in 2023, Beyond Reach Labs aims to address the challenges of deploying large solar arrays in space, which are crucial for powering large-scale space structures. The company has developed a patented solar array deployer capable of extending up to 100 meters while being compact enough to fit into a standard launch fairing. This innovation addresses the size, weight, and power constraints that limit current spaceflight capabilities. Beyond Reach Labs plans to have its system flight-qualified by the end of the year, driven by significant customer interest and $342.6 million in letters of intent. The company has also opened a new facility in Brooklyn, New York, to scale production.
