Salisbury-born Marcus John has achieved his dream of starring as Alexander Hamilton on Broadway, a journey nurtured by his family and community. John, who spent parts of his childhood in Salisbury and Berlin,
Maryland, and later Prince George's County, discovered theater after missing basketball tryouts in high school. His talent was recognized early, particularly after his role as Jimmy Early in 'Dreamgirls' during his junior year. After studying musical theater, he joined the national tour of 'Mamma Mia!' and later a touring company of 'Hamilton' in 2019. He first performed as Alexander Hamilton at the Kennedy Center in Washington in 2022, with over 100 friends and family in attendance. His Broadway debut in the title role in May was met with a nearly 30-second standing ovation, with supporters traveling by the busload.

Flowers High School, with the goal of bringing the Eastern Shore to Broadway and inspiring more children to pursue their dreams in the arts.
