What's Happening?
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to introduce all six of its Luxury & Lifestyle brands into Saudi Arabia by 2028. This expansion includes brands such as InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Six Senses, Regent, Hotel Indigo, and Vignette Collection.
The company currently operates 48 hotels in Saudi Arabia and has 62 more in the pipeline. The expansion is part of a broader strategy to meet the demand for luxury and culturally relevant hospitality experiences in the region, aligning with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals. The recent opening of Kimpton KAFD Riyadh marks the debut of the Kimpton brand in the Middle East.
Why It's Important?
This expansion is significant as it supports Saudi Arabia's tourism development goals, which aim to attract 150 million visitors by 2030. By increasing its presence in the region, IHG is positioning itself to capitalize on the growing demand for luxury hospitality experiences. This move also reflects the broader trend of international hotel chains investing in the Middle East, driven by the region's economic diversification efforts and increasing tourism. The expansion could lead to increased employment opportunities and economic growth in Saudi Arabia.
