What's Happening?
Epiroc AB, a leading productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and infrastructure industries, has secured a significant order valued at approximately $64 million (SEK 610 million) from MMG Limited. This order is for underground mining equipment
destined for the Khoemacau Copper Mine in northwest Botswana. MMG, listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange and majority-owned by the Chinese state-owned company China Minmetals Corp., placed the order in collaboration with its mining contractors, China Huaye and 23MCC, both subsidiaries of China Minmetals. The equipment fleet includes Epiroc's 'Smart series' machines, such as the Boomer M20 S face drilling rig, Simba E70 S ITH production drilling rig, Cabletec M10 S cable bolting rig, Scooptram ST18 S loader, and Minetruck MT65 S. These 'S' series machines are designed for automation and remote control. In addition to the equipment, Epiroc will provide a remote-control solution for the loaders, spare parts, tools, and on-site service. The company will also offer customized training programs and simulators, and maintain an on-site parts inventory to ensure maximum performance. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026 and are expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2028.
