Roger Laplante, a former Navy serviceman, has turned his exposure to soccer during his military service into a lifelong passion for coaching. Initially unfamiliar with organized soccer, Laplante's interest grew as he supported his daughter's budding talent
in the sport. After settling in Hawaii, he immersed himself in learning the game to better assist her development. His dedication led him to volunteer as an assistant coach, where he spent years honing his skills under experienced mentors. Following his military retirement in 2006, Laplante moved to Lincoln County, where he began coaching at Lincoln County High School in 2013. His military background, particularly as a 9/11 veteran, influences his coaching style, emphasizing resilience, discipline, and mental toughness. Laplante's approach focuses on instilling life skills in his players, valuing personal growth over mere athletic success.
