Ronald J. Bortner, a respected veteran and photographer, passed away peacefully at his home in Bedford, Indiana, on August 1, 2026. Born in Ripley, New York, in 1936, Bortner served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958. He later worked at Crane
and retired in 1989. Bortner was a talented photographer, owning Bortner Photography in Bedford and contributing to Outdoor Indiana Magazine with 18 cover photos. He was a member of Hillcrest Christian Church and American Legion Post 33. Bortner is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on August 10 at Hillcrest Christian Church.
