What's Happening?
Prime 1 Studio has initiated pre-orders for a new collectible statue featuring Chainsaw Man and Beam. This statue is inspired by a major action sequence from 'Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc,' depicting Chainsaw Man riding Beam through the night sky
during a battle against the Typhoon Devil. The statue is part of Prime 1 Studio's Concept Masterline range and is a 1/6 scale model. A 'Bonus Version' of the statue is also available, which includes an additional interchangeable Chainsaw Man head with its tongue out and illuminated eyes, along with a separate display stand for the head. The standard statue is priced at $1,599 USD and weighs nearly 14 kg. The 'Bonus Version' is a limited edition, with only 300 units being produced. Prime 1 Studio anticipates that the statues will begin shipping in May 2028.
Why It's Important?
This release is significant for fans of the 'Chainsaw Man' franchise, particularly those anticipating 'The Movie: Reze Arc.' High-end collectibles like this statue cater to a dedicated fanbase, offering a tangible connection to their favorite characters and moments from the series. The substantial price point and limited availability of the 'Bonus Version' indicate a market for premium, exclusive merchandise within the anime and manga community. For Prime 1 Studio, this product reinforces its position in the high-end collectible market, leveraging popular intellectual properties to attract collectors. The statue's detailed recreation of a specific movie scene also builds anticipation for the film itself, serving as a promotional item that excites fans about upcoming content.
What's Next?
Following the opening of pre-orders, Prime 1 Studio will continue to market the statue to collectors. Production of the statues will proceed, with an expected delivery date in May 2028. Fans who pre-order will await updates on the manufacturing and shipping process. The release of this statue also serves as a continued promotional effort for 'Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc,' keeping the film in the public consciousness as its release date approaches. The limited nature of the 'Bonus Version' suggests that it may sell out quickly, potentially increasing its value in the secondary market over time.
Beyond the Headlines
The creation of such detailed and expensive collectibles highlights the growing commercialization and global reach of Japanese anime and manga franchises. 'Chainsaw Man' has garnered a significant international following, making merchandise like this statue a lucrative venture. This trend reflects a broader shift in consumer culture where fans are willing to invest heavily in high-quality, tangible representations of their beloved fictional worlds. Furthermore, the long lead time between pre-order and delivery (over a year) is common in the high-end collectible market, indicating the intricate production processes involved in creating such detailed pieces and the patience required from dedicated collectors.
