a highly optimized strain of Cyberlindnera jadinii yeast, which can ferment various low-cost feedstocks such as ethanol, methanol, acetate, sugar, and molasses. This flexibility and high productivity are expected to enable Protopia to compete with traditional protein sources like fishmeal in aquaculture and whey in human nutrition. The initial phase involves producing sufficient quantities for market testing and proving the bioprocess at scale, with a goal to produce 400–500 tons annually starting mid-next year to seed the market and support customer trials. The company aims to expand through a licensing model, providing the yeast strain, process technology, and technical support to local production partners.
