What's Happening?
PhaseWell Research, a multisite clinical research company based in Nashville, Tennessee, has announced a strategic partnership with the Latin Clinical Trial Center (LCTC) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This collaboration aims to integrate LCTC into PhaseWell's
national network, thereby expanding clinical trial access across various therapeutic areas including cardiometabolic, immunology, and infectious diseases. LCTC, founded in 2006 by Dr. Carlos A. Sariol, has a strong track record with over 85 clinical studies completed and a patient retention rate exceeding 96%. The partnership is expected to leverage LCTC's expertise and patient-centric approach to enhance PhaseWell's capabilities in Puerto Rico.
Why It's Important?
This partnership is significant as it addresses the underrepresentation of Puerto Rico in clinical research, despite its potential in terms of talent and patient communities. By joining PhaseWell's network, LCTC will provide thousands more patients in Puerto Rico with access to clinical trials, which is crucial for the development of new therapies. This move not only strengthens PhaseWell's core therapeutic areas but also ensures that diverse, multicultural communities in Puerto Rico have a role in shaping future medical treatments. The collaboration is poised to enhance the quality and reach of clinical research in the region, potentially leading to more approved therapies and improved healthcare outcomes.
What's Next?
The partnership will likely lead to an increase in the number of clinical trials conducted in Puerto Rico, providing more opportunities for local patients to participate in cutting-edge research. PhaseWell and LCTC will work together to maintain high standards of scientific rigor and patient engagement, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data. As the partnership progresses, it may also inspire similar collaborations in other underrepresented regions, further expanding the reach of clinical research and improving access to innovative treatments.
