Korean researchers, in collaboration with Samsung Heavy Industries, have achieved a significant milestone in developing a containership powered by molten salt nuclear reactors. The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has granted basic design approval for
this innovative project. The design features two Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) using molten salt technology, which enhances safety and efficiency by hardening in case of a reaction failure. The vessel, designed to carry 15,000 TEU, incorporates advanced power management and storage capabilities, optimizing operational efficiency and safety.
