EUKOR Car Carriers, SIPG Energy, and World Fuel have successfully completed the first green methanol bunkering of the M/V Arctic Tern, a new car carrier in the Shaper Class series, at the Port of Shanghai. The operation involved the delivery of 2,800
MT of green methanol via a ship-to-ship transfer using SIPG Energy's bunkering vessel. This marks the first time Arctic Tern has bunkered methanol since its delivery on July 9. The green methanol, produced from municipal solid waste and ISCC-EU certified, has a low carbon intensity. The Arctic Tern, with a capacity of 9,300 car equivalent units, is the first of fourteen vessels ordered by Wallenius Wilhelmsen and will operate on routes between Asia and Europe.
