DRDGOLD has successfully commissioned a new elution circuit and smelt house at its Far West Gold Recoveries, marking a significant milestone in its Vision 2028 program. The facility, completed on time and within budget, poured its first doré gold bar,
a semi-pure alloy of gold, on July 14. This development is part of a broader R10-billion capital expenditure program aimed at increasing plant throughput and extending mine life. The new facility will enhance monthly plant throughput to 1.2 million tons and contribute to a 16-year mine life. The project is part of DRDGOLD's efforts to optimize its asset portfolio and improve operational resilience.
