During the 2026 World Cup, Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta hosted over 544,000 fans and 4,000 media members from more than 100 nations. The stadium, known for its sustainability efforts, achieved a zero-waste event by diverting 91% of waste from landfills.
This included creating 407,560 pounds of compost and recycling 94,000 pounds of glass and cardboard. Additionally, 8,500 pounds of food were recovered and donated to Second Helpings Atlanta. The stadium also donated 800 pieces of furniture and 3,000 pounds of fabric for upcycling. Over 1.4 million food and beverage items were sold, highlighting the stadium's commitment to affordable and sustainable fan experiences.
