BMSS Advisors & CPAs has acquired Aviso Group, effective July 1, significantly expanding its presence in Alabama and launching the BMSS Family of Companies. This acquisition increases BMSS's workforce to approximately 410 employees and adds two new offices
in Brewton and Fairhope, Alabama. BMSS, headquartered in Birmingham, is ranked No. 83 on Accounting Today's 2026 Top 100 Firms list, with reported revenues of $85 million. The acquisition aims to enhance BMSS's service offerings while maintaining the personal, relationship-driven service that both firms are known for. The newly formed BMSS Family of Companies will include Abacus Technologies, BMSS Wesson Wealth Solutions, and Payroll & Benefit Solutions, providing a wide range of services including advisory, tax, assurance, estate and trust, valuation, payroll, wealth management, cybersecurity, IT, artificial intelligence, and business intelligence services.
Why It's Important?
The acquisition of Aviso Group by BMSS represents a strategic expansion in the competitive accounting and consulting industry, particularly in the southeastern United States. By increasing its workforce and geographical footprint, BMSS is positioning itself to offer a broader range of services and resources to its clients. This move could potentially enhance its market share and influence within the industry. The creation of the BMSS Family of Companies signifies a commitment to diversification and innovation, particularly in areas like cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, which are increasingly important in today's business environment. This expansion could lead to increased competition among regional firms and potentially drive further consolidation in the industry.
What's Next?
Following the acquisition, BMSS will focus on integrating Aviso Group's operations and culture into its own, ensuring a seamless transition for clients and employees. The firm will likely explore further opportunities for growth and expansion, both organically and through additional acquisitions. As the BMSS Family of Companies begins to operate, it will be important to monitor how effectively the new services are integrated and how they impact client satisfaction and business performance. The firm's success in leveraging its expanded capabilities could set a precedent for other firms in the industry considering similar growth strategies.
