What's Happening?
Antipa Minerals has announced that its Prefeasibility Study (PFS) metallurgical test work has confirmed the Minyari Dome Gold-Copper Project's suitability for conventional gold-copper processing. The test work, conducted by Strategic Metallurgy, demonstrated
strong gold recoveries ranging from 89% to 98% across various material types, including oxide, transitional, and primary materials. The study also highlighted rapid leach kinetics, with effective leaching achieved within 24 hours for oxide and transitional materials, and 24-36 hours for primary material. The primary material was identified as free milling and non-refractory, supporting a conventional carbon-in-leach (CIL) gold doré production pathway. Additionally, flotation of the primary material CIL residue produced a commercial-grade copper concentrate with approximately 22% copper. The company reported low reagent consumption across all material types, with cyanide usage averaging 0.24kg per tonne. Geotechnical work supports steeper open-pit slope angles, potentially reducing the strip ratio and reliance on underground mining.
Why It's Important?
The confirmation of a conventional processing pathway for the Minyari Project is significant for Antipa Minerals as it enhances the project's economic viability and development potential. The strong gold recoveries and the ability to produce a commercial-grade copper concentrate could lead to increased profitability and attract further investment. The updated geotechnical parameters, allowing for steeper open-pit slope angles, may reduce operational costs and improve the project's overall efficiency. This development positions Antipa Minerals to advance its project planning and optimization processes, potentially leading to a more robust and economically feasible mining operation. The successful completion of the PFS and the commencement of Definitive Feasibility Study-level activities indicate progress towards project realization, which could have positive implications for stakeholders and the broader mining industry.
What's Next?
Antipa Minerals plans to complete the technical PFS workstreams in the third quarter of this year, with the release of PFS outcomes expected shortly thereafter. The company has already commenced Definitive Feasibility Study-level activities, which are progressing as planned. Antipa Minerals will also participate in the Noosa Mining Conference from July 22-24, 2026, where it may present further updates on the Minyari Project. The outcomes of the PFS and subsequent feasibility studies will be crucial in determining the project's future development and potential commercial production. Stakeholders, including investors and industry partners, will be closely monitoring these developments to assess the project's viability and potential returns.
