McLaren has successfully concluded a 30-hour endurance simulation with its new MCL-HY LMDh hybrid prototype. This rigorous test, designed to mimic the distance of the Le Mans 24 Hours, took place at the Aragon circuit in Spain in July. The MCL-HY, developed
in collaboration with Dallara Automobili, is preparing for its entry into the World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar category next season. This endurance run marks a significant milestone, occurring less than three months after the car's initial shakedown in May and following earlier tests at Imola and Magny-Cours. James Barclay, executive director of McLaren Endurance Racing, confirmed that the test encountered no 'show-stoppers,' indicating the car's robust performance. The MCL-HY features an all-new three-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, developed in partnership with AutoTecnica Motori, distinguishing it from competitors who often adapt existing powerplants.
