China has launched its first next-generation flexible display production line in Chengdu, aimed at producing thinner and cheaper AMOLED displays for global laptops and tablets. This new production line, operated by BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd., represents
a significant investment of 63 billion yuan (approximately 9.3 billion U.S. dollars) and is the largest single industrial project in China's display sector. The facility is designed to produce 32,000 glass substrates per month, each capable of being used in medium-sized premium display panels. AMOLED technology offers advantages over traditional liquid-crystal displays, including purer blacks, richer colors, and the potential for flexible, bendable panels.
