The New Orleans Public Library is actively seeking local musicians to expand its streaming platform, Crescent City Sounds. This platform is dedicated exclusively to artists based in New Orleans. Musicians have until October 2 to submit their music for consideration.
The library intends to select 60 records this year, and each chosen artist will receive a $300 honorarium. To be eligible, artists must primarily perform in New Orleans, and their submitted recordings must be no more than five years old. All musical genres are welcome. The selection process, now in its fifth round, is overseen by a group of library employees and community volunteers, including local music industry figures.
