JoeScan is set to unveil its new TrueSight sawmill vision system at the Timber Processing & Energy Expo (TP&EE) from September 23-25, 2026, in Portland, Oregon. The TrueSight system is a comprehensive suite of hardware and software designed to integrate
geometric scanning and color vision in sawmills. This system aims to enhance defect detection, grading, cutting, and sorting processes by providing co-registered color images and geometric profiles. According to Joey Nelson, President of JoeScan, the TrueSight platform is tailored specifically for sawmill applications, offering a complete vision platform that reduces integration complexity. The system includes JS-50 WX geometric scan heads, ColorCam vision heads, lighting, industrial computing components, and a documented integration API. It also features new software tools and push-button calibration hardware, simplifying setup and maintenance. Existing systems with JS-50 WX scan heads can be upgraded to include TrueSight's color vision capabilities, allowing mills to expand their system capabilities while utilizing current JoeScan equipment.
