Alfor Aviation, a British aviation startup, is pioneering a new passenger-to-freighter conversion system for Airbus A330 aircraft. This innovative approach, known as the Internal Loading System, eliminates the need for a conventional main-deck cargo door,
instead utilizing existing lower-deck cargo doors and internal elevators to move containers. This method is expected to significantly reduce structural work, conversion costs, and aircraft downtime. The first conversion is underway on an aircraft from Zephyrus Aviation Capital, with completion expected by the end of August 2026. Alfor plans to establish a new conversion facility at Teesside Airport, UK, by 2027, creating 250 jobs and converting up to 12 aircraft annually.
