SpaceX has unveiled the new Starlink V5 dish, which, while not offering increased internet speeds, features significant improvements in weight, size, and power consumption. The V5 dish, designed to replace the current V4 model, is part of Starlink's Residential
plan. The new dish weighs 2.4 pounds, a reduction from the V4's 6.5 pounds, and consumes 35 to 50 watts of power compared to the V4's 75 to 100 watts. Despite a slightly lower maximum speed of 375+ Mbps compared to the V4's 400+ Mbps, the V5's compact design and efficiency make it a notable upgrade. The dish is available in select areas in the United States, with plans for broader availability as production increases. However, the V5 does not include a new router but will be bundled with a Router Mini, which has a limited Wi-Fi range. The dish also comes with a pipe adapter for roof installation.
