CleanSpark, a company previously known for Bitcoin mining, has successfully raised approximately $2.25 billion through a junk bond offering to finance an AI data center. This data center will be leased to Meta Platforms for 20 years. The offering saw
significant investor interest, with orders totaling around $10 billion, oversubscribing the deal by more than four times. This transaction marks the first U.S. high-yield bond offering directly tied to a Meta data center project. The proceeds from these five-year senior secured notes, issued through CleanSpark subsidiary CSDC Finance I LLC, will fund a 175-megawatt AI data center campus in Sandersville, Georgia. The data center is backed by a triple-net lease with Anviran LLC, a Meta subsidiary, where the tenant covers all operating expenses in addition to rent.
