What's Happening?
Home Depot has launched its 2026 Halloween collection, featuring an updated version of its popular 12-foot skeleton, known as Skelly. This year, Skelly includes app-enabled upgrades that allow users to control head and mouth movements via servo motors
and Bluetooth. The animatronic skeleton can now speak in real-time and record up to 30 sounds. Additionally, it offers 20 different LCD effects, including heart eyes, making it a versatile decoration for various occasions. The new version of Skelly is priced at $379 and is available exclusively online. The original version is also available for $299.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of interactive features to Skelly enhances its appeal as a Halloween decoration, potentially increasing consumer interest and sales. Home Depot's decision to innovate on a popular product reflects a broader trend in retail towards integrating technology into traditional holiday decorations. This move could set a precedent for other retailers to follow, leading to more tech-enhanced holiday products. The popularity of Skelly also highlights the growing consumer interest in unique and customizable holiday decorations, which could influence future product development in the seasonal decor market.
