The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana recently organized a STEM-a-Thon event at Central Park Plaza in Valparaiso, bringing together approximately 200 children from various clubs in Lake and Porter counties. The event aimed to expose kids
to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through interactive and fun activities. Participants engaged in a variety of hands-on experiments, including flight simulators, robotics, and air pressure projects. The event is part of an annual initiative to provide a relaxed, educational environment that differs from traditional classroom settings. Marcus Steele, a former club member and current family and youth service coordinator, emphasized the importance of such gatherings in fostering a sense of community and learning among the youth.
