Michael Rousseau, who is retiring after 19 years with the company. Rousseau's retirement will be effective on August 31, 2026, but he will remain available to assist with the transition. The appointment of Van der Werff follows a global search process conducted by Air Canada's board of directors, which was impressed by the quality of candidates. Van der Werff brings over 25 years of international airline leadership experience, having previously held senior roles at Avianca, Aeroméxico, Qatar Airways, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and served on the board of governors of the International Air Transport Association until June 2026.
