What's Happening?
GoCardless and Sage have announced an expansion of their strategic partnership to integrate GoCardless's open banking payment feature, Pay by Bank, into Sage Business Cloud Accounting. This integration aims to streamline the payment process for small
businesses by offering instant account-to-account payments alongside existing Direct Debit capabilities. According to Tom Metcalfe, Director of Global Partnerships at GoCardless, this development addresses the challenges small businesses face with high credit card fees and delayed payments. By embedding the Pay by Bank option directly within Sage invoices, businesses can offer a card-free payment method, reducing transaction costs and improving cash flow management. The partnership is expected to significantly cut single transaction costs by bypassing traditional card networks.
Why It's Important?
The integration of Pay by Bank into Sage's platform is significant for small businesses, which often struggle with tight margins and administrative burdens. By reducing reliance on credit card networks, businesses can lower transaction costs by an average of 54%, enhancing their financial efficiency. This development is particularly crucial in the current economic climate, where managing cash flow effectively can determine a business's survival and growth. The partnership also highlights the growing importance of open banking solutions in the financial technology sector, offering more secure and efficient payment options. As small businesses adopt these technologies, they can improve their operational efficiency and competitiveness in the market.
