What's Happening?
Aurora Fashion Week has commenced with a unique mission that extends beyond fashion, aiming to unite the community while raising funds for local businesses and nonprofits. The inaugural event took place at Children's Hospital Colorado, where young patients
were treated to a private fashion show. This event featured local designers, community leaders, and special guests, and was broadcast throughout the hospital to include children who could not attend in person. Approximately 30 individuals, including patients, nurses, designers, and the Denver Broncos mascot, Miles, participated in the runway show. Organizer Nayada Moore highlighted the event's significance in providing children facing serious illnesses with a memorable experience. The show was supported by sponsors such as Ferrari of Denver and Denver Exotic Rental Cars.
Why It's Important?
The launch of Aurora Fashion Week at Children's Hospital Colorado underscores the potential of fashion events to serve as platforms for community engagement and charitable efforts. By focusing on inclusivity and support for children with serious health conditions, the event highlights the role of fashion in fostering social good. This initiative not only benefits the children involved by providing them with a unique and uplifting experience but also supports local businesses and nonprofits through fundraising efforts. The involvement of community leaders and sponsors further emphasizes the collaborative spirit and potential for positive impact within the community.
What's Next?
Aurora Fashion Week will continue with events scheduled at various venues across Aurora, including Stanley Marketplace and the Benson Hotel. Many of these events are free to attend, with registration available online. The ongoing activities are expected to further engage the community and continue the fundraising efforts for local causes. As the week progresses, organizers anticipate increased participation and support from both local residents and businesses, potentially setting a precedent for future community-focused fashion events.
